Term 4 - Week 5 & 6 😀

Dear parents,

We cannot believe that it is already Week 5. It felt like only yesterday that we had just finished Term 3 and were going into spring holidays. Time really does fly when your having fun 😁😍 

Just a few notes for the fortnight ahead...

Homework

On Monday we will be sending home the Year Two fluency grid with this fortnights focus sounds and tricky words. Have a look at our blog post titled 'Week 4 Information' which shows you how you can use this at home to increase your child's reading fluency. We have also included all of the spelling lists for your information on the back of the fluency grid. The pink list 💓 is the target for Year Two from our InitiaLit program. Please feel free to use these lists at home to increase your child's spelling abilities. Have a look at our Fluency grids and spelling lists below to see our focus sounds 🤓





Learning Intentions

English: 

This week we are learning the sound 'ch' as in church, 'tch' as in catch and 'ion' as in action.  This fortnights tricky words are: women, after, laugh, interesting.



This fortnight, we will be continuing innovating the mentor text 'The Missing Sheep' and changing it into our very own narrative. Once the children have finished, we will complete a published copy to hang up in the classroom! Keep an eye out for our great narratives that are currently in the making 😊

Class Lists 2023
As we are approaching the end of 2022, we will be in the process of creating the class lists for Year Three 2023. We would love if you could spend some time with your child and discuss a few friends  that they would like to be in the same class as next year, that is good for their learning. These can be friends that are in either 2M and/or 2W. We have sent a slip home today for you to complete and would greatly appreciate if you could send this back in as soon as possible. 

Please note, that these will be taken into consideration to cater for your child's social and friendship needs when we commence planning class lists for 2023.  Although this will be taken into consideration we cannot guarantee your child will have one of their friends in their class.

Week Seven is here!

 Good afternoon Parents, I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend and managed to get some rest after the massive week we had last week with the athletics carnival. I had a beautiful brunch at Meelup Farmhouse on Friday with some of the other teachers from school.  Just a few notices for the week ahead... Athletics Carnival Congratulations to  Leeuwin  on winning the Sports Carnival last Wednesday, a fine speech by our captains Cooper and Paige.  The students again showed such great enthusiasm and sportsmanship on the day and gave it their all for every game or race they participated in! What a great way to finish week 6! Open Night A big thank you to all the families who came to our open night last week (we know it was a long day after the sports carnival, so we really appreciate it). Dear parents,  I hope you have had a great start to your week and have enjoyed hearing about our swimming adventures over the past week and a half. We have loved being down by the bay despite the cooler weather, the water has been like glass! Have a look at some of the pictures from our lessons below... Just a few messages this week... Parents in the classroom: Sadly at this stage parents are no longer able to enter into the classroom in the mornings during gathering time.  As per the government information for schools, parents must also wear face masks at school even when outside. Unfortunately, this also extends to parent teacher interviews so therefore our main port of call will be via email. Please see the previous blog post if you do not have my email address. Parent Information Night: Due to COVID requirements there will not be a parent information night this year. We will pass on the required information in another form and more information will be coming out next week....
