Shut the gate...it's week 8!

Good afternoon everyone,

I hope you enjoyed the lovely long weekend and some of that glorious winter sun. We had two wonderful PD days here at school the first looking at the Eucharist and it's importance in our lives and the second learning about well being of both the students and ourselves. We can't wait to implement some of this great learning into our class!

Just a few messages for this week...

Our Learning

In Art, we learnt all about the artist Rebecca Cool and she inspired us to create our very own cat creations. Take a look below. 


                            


In Writing, we have been learning all information reports and how they contain facts. A fact is something that can be proven to be true. We have discovered the hybrid animal known as the Sharkgull. It is a member of the shark and seagull family that can only be found near Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse. Have a look below to learn more about this interesting creature. 

Mass ⛪
Tomorrow morning (Wednesday 9th June) the Year Two cohort will be walking to Our Lady of the Southern Cross for a 9:30 am start. Please ensure your child is here before 8:40 am as we will be taking the roll and starting our walk down to the church shortly after. This is weather dependent. 

Library 
Just a reminder for your child to bring their library bag and books that they borrowed as we have library tomorrow. 

Homework 📚
Homework is due Friday 11th of June. If your child is not going to be at school please ensure that they bring in their RED Reading folder and their homework book on Thursday. This enables us to check over their work and glue in the next fortnights homework. 

Extended Holidays 
If you are planning on escaping early, please visit the lovely Fran in the office to fill out an extended leave form. This would be greatly appreciated. 

Character Strength 

Dear Parents, currently at OLC we are focusing on modeling and observing different character strengths. This week we are looking for people who demonstrate Curiosity. Can you encourage your child to show the following?

Week Seven is here!

 Good afternoon Parents, I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend and managed to get some rest after the massive week we had last week with the athletics carnival. I had a beautiful brunch at Meelup Farmhouse on Friday with some of the other teachers from school.  Just a few notices for the week ahead... Athletics Carnival Congratulations to  Leeuwin  on winning the Sports Carnival last Wednesday, a fine speech by our captains Cooper and Paige.  The students again showed such great enthusiasm and sportsmanship on the day and gave it their all for every game or race they participated in! What a great way to finish week 6! Open Night A big thank you to all the families who came to our open night last week (we know it was a long day after the sports carnival, so we really appreciate it). Dear parents,  I hope you have had a great start to your week and have enjoyed hearing about our swimming adventures over the past week and a half. We have loved being down by the bay despite the cooler weather, the water has been like glass! Have a look at some of the pictures from our lessons below... Just a few messages this week... Parents in the classroom: Sadly at this stage parents are no longer able to enter into the classroom in the mornings during gathering time.  As per the government information for schools, parents must also wear face masks at school even when outside. Unfortunately, this also extends to parent teacher interviews so therefore our main port of call will be via email. Please see the previous blog post if you do not have my email address. Parent Information Night: Due to COVID requirements there will not be a parent information night this year. We will pass on the required information in another form and more information will be coming out next week....
