Week 8 feeling GREAT!

 Good afternoon parents,

I hope you had a lovely weekend in the sunshine ☀🌞🌻. We are in the season on Djilba so you will start to see some beautiful yellow flowers and the days will begin to get warmer.

Just a few messages for this week

Operation Christmas Child

Your child would have come home with a letter today to give them some information about Operation Christmas Child. This is a wonderful OLC tradition that draws on our value of Compassion and is a great way for the children to learn and think about people that do not have as much as they do.

Below are the groups that your child has been placed in. Please only bring something small (no bigger for 20 cm big) along with the $2.50 for postage by Tuesday 22nd of September (Week 10).

Merit Award

Congratulations to Jake who was the week 7 Merit Award winner. You are a Year Two super star!

School Photos

This Thursday 9th of September our school photos will be taking place. Please ensure your child comes to school ready wearing the full winter uniform, including trousers, grey socks and the teal
woolen jumpers on this day. Girls may wear skirts or trousers.
Family photos will be taken before school from 8am on this day - please see the office for more information about family photos if you need.
As this is normally our sports day, students are welcome to bring in some sports shoes and socks if they wish to complete their sports lesson later in the day rather than in their dress shoes - please just keep them in their bags.

Character Strengths
Dear Parents,
Currently at OLC we are focusing on modelling and observing different character strengths. This week we are looking for people who show Good Judgement in decision making.

St Vinnies Fundraiser
On Friday the 24th September (the last day of school) we will have a footy/sport colours day. Students are to bring a gold coin donation with all funds going to our pastoral care fridge and St Vinnies. We thank you in advance for your support with this.

Book Week
Our Book Week celebration will be held in the final week of term with the dress-up assembly being held first part of the day. There is a slight chance the costumes may not be at their finest at our normal assembly time!

Seesaw App and Learning Portfolios

Keep an eye out and don't forget to tick yes to notifications for new additions to your child's learning portfolio.  We will have a few more posts out over the next fortnight.  This is a great way to keep you informed of some of our tasks, work samples and assessments we are completing across the different learning areas rather than only at the end of year formal reports.

Please feel free to contact me if you would like to meet to discuss your child's progress or email me if have any questions or queries at all.  I am so proud of the progress all the students are making and the personal development and desire they have shown to achieve personal learning goals.

Have a lovely week 8!

Mrs. Wendelin
