Week 6
Good afternoon parents,
We hope you had a lovely long weekend. We had a very productive PD day on Friday where we looked at the schools strategic plan for 2022 and had a video conference with St Brendan's Primary School about our Seesaw reporting.
A few messages for the upcoming week...
EXCURSION
Today your child will have come home with a permission slip in regards to our upcoming excursion to Busselton Jetty. This will take place on Friday 3rd of December and would be greatly appreciated if you could return the permission slip by Friday 26th of November. Please have a read through the note for additional information about this day. The children are all very excited and are looking forward to this jam packed day 😁

SEESAW - REPORTING
With the end of Semester Two approaching us, your child will soon be receiving their end of year report. Please be reminded that each Seesaw post that has been posted over the semester is a reflection of that individual learning sample and may not necessarily be their overall grade for that subject.
SEESAW - POSTS
You would have seen that last week we posted two amazing pieces of work.
You would have seen that last week we posted two amazing pieces of work.
Our post last week was our InitaLit Spelling Cumulative Review results. These are words that we have reviewed and learnt the over the last 5 weeks along with the tricky words where we broke down each word and spent time looking at the 'tricky part' of each word. If your child does require some review with their sound acquisition, we would recommend reviewing the spelling lists from the homework book as well as the fluency mazes.
The most recent post was a video of our Jack and the Beanstalk Readers theatre. The children were placed in groups and given time to practise their role. We focused on reading quickly and accurately using correct expression. Please take your time to listen to your child's readers theatre as there is some great characterisation. We would especially LOVE if you could provide your child with some feedback by commenting on their work. They love to see that their Mum's and Dad's have acknowledged their hard work 😍🥰
We aim to keep you updated with your child's progress across all learning areas and give you as much transparency in your child's learning as possible. If there are any questions or queries about your child's progress in any subject area, please don't hesitate to email us to arrange a meeting.
KEEPING SAFE
For the remainder of the term, the children will be learning Protective Behaviours through the program Keeping Safe. Over the next few weeks, we will be talking to the children about:
Children need to learn (at an age and developmentally appropriate level):
• the concept of personal space and how this is different for different people
• correct anatomical names of sexual body parts
• the whole body is private
• appropriate and inappropriate touching.
For the next two Friday's, the children will be taking part in the Keeping Safe lesson about personal space and body parts. We will be reading stories and emphasising the fact that all parts of their body are private. I understand that the children may laugh and giggle when we talk about the anatomical names, but this is important for every child to know.
Recent research shows that knowing the anatomically correct language terms enhances children’s body image, self-confidence, and openness.
This is in conjunction with the Child Protection Curriculum which has been mandated in all schools in Western Australia.
HOMEWORK
Homework is due this Friday 19th of November. Please note that this was the last fortnight of homework for the year. If you would still like to complete work, we recommend reviewing the spelling lists, fluency mazes and writing some of the words your child may have found tricky, in a sentence with a conjunction (because, but, so).
