Week Two coming at you!

Dear Parents, 
I hope you had a lovely start to the term and got to enjoy some of the sunshine over the weekend! 

Merit Award Winner 
Congratulations to Maxwell who was the week 1 Merit Award winner. Maxwell, you are a Year Two super star!

Homework
Homework is due this Friday. If your child is not going to be here Friday, please send in their homework folder on Thursday so we are able to glue in the next fortnights homework.

SeeSaw
You would have seen that last week we posted two amazing pieces of work. We posted an Art sample of our beautiful proteas and a picture of our InitiaLit Progress Monitoring Test. If your child does require some review with their sound acquisition, we would recommend reviewing the spelling lists from the homework book as well as the fluency mazes.

Keep an eye out on some wonderful writing that will be posted later this week based around the mentor text 'How to make a disgusting sandwich'. The children loved learning about procedural texts and enjoyed coming up with some absolutely disgusting ingredients. Within the Seesaw post, we will include both the draft and good copy for you to view so you can see the way your children's spelling, ideas or sentence structure has been adapted or edited after teacher conferencing. 

We aim to keep you updated with your child's progress across all learning areas and give you as much transparency in your child's learning as possible. If there are any questions or queries about your child's progress, please don't hesitate to email us to arrange a meeting. 

We can't wait to share more amazing work with you this term. 

Character Strengths
Currently at OLC we are focusing on modelling and observing different character strengths. This week we are looking for people who show Leadership.

Week Seven is here!

 Good afternoon Parents, I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend and managed to get some rest after the massive week we had last week with the athletics carnival. I had a beautiful brunch at Meelup Farmhouse on Friday with some of the other teachers from school.  Just a few notices for the week ahead... Athletics Carnival Congratulations to  Leeuwin  on winning the Sports Carnival last Wednesday, a fine speech by our captains Cooper and Paige.  The students again showed such great enthusiasm and sportsmanship on the day and gave it their all for every game or race they participated in! What a great way to finish week 6! Open Night A big thank you to all the families who came to our open night last week (we know it was a long day after the sports carnival, so we really appreciate it). Dear parents,  I hope you have had a great start to your week and have enjoyed hearing about our swimming adventures over the past week and a half. We have loved being down by the bay despite the cooler weather, the water has been like glass! Have a look at some of the pictures from our lessons below... Just a few messages this week... Parents in the classroom: Sadly at this stage parents are no longer able to enter into the classroom in the mornings during gathering time.  As per the government information for schools, parents must also wear face masks at school even when outside. Unfortunately, this also extends to parent teacher interviews so therefore our main port of call will be via email. Please see the previous blog post if you do not have my email address. Parent Information Night: Due to COVID requirements there will not be a parent information night this year. We will pass on the required information in another form and more information will be coming out next week....
