Welcome to Week 4

Good afternoon parents,

I cant believe we are already going into Week 4 and have already had a busy 3 weeks of Term 2 with your beautiful children. We have been learning so much and we wanted to share some of the amazing work we have been doing in class...

Our learning for Term 2 🤓😍

In Maths, we have spent the last few weeks learning all about skip counting in 2's, 3's, 5's and 10's. We learnt how to identify the rule in a pattern and continue a pattern from any given number, even numbers past 100 🤩 We are now beginning to put our mathematician brains to the test and learn all about telling time. This can be a tricky concept, but we are determined to get there 🕤 Check out some of our amazing work in the snaps below.

Skip counting stars!!

Look how clever we are!

In InitiaLit, we have been learning all about what an imaginative text is. We know that an imaginative text is a made up story that sometimes can teach us lessons about life. This ties in nicely with our Writing program and we have been working super hard to create our own narratives about a magical object that unleashes an evil villain. We can't wait to finish our good copies next week!

Another great aspect of the InitiaLit program is that we are practicing writing answers in full sentences. We have learnt that a small group of words that don't make sense is called a fragment. Full sentence answers allow us to explain our understanding of a concept and use examples from a text that we have read. I must say these Year Two children might be ready for Year Three already!

In Friendology, we reminded ourselves how its important to introduce ourselves when we meet new people in order to make new friends and we even learnt how to keep a conversation going by asking questions and trying to find things we might have in common with one of our friends. We did this by using our super cute teddies to introduce them to other teddies who had come for a visit last Friday 🧸

Prayer Assembly

What a wonderful job the Year 2's did last Friday at our prayer assembly. All of the children should be very proud of themselves and I am sure you are too. We cant wait for you to see our performance assembly later in the year.

Wheels after Meals⛸🛹

This will be held tomorrow (Tuesday 11th of May). Children are encouraged to bring along their roller blades, skateboards or scooters (no bikes) and the appropriate protective gear. Please be aware that if they do not have their helmet, they will not be able to participate in this wonderful initiative.

Book Fair for 2021 📚📗📕📘📙

The lovely Mrs. Kemp is holding the annual Scholastic Book fair for 2021 in our school Library on Tuesday and Wednesday of Week 5 (18th and 19th of May). We hope to sell a lot of books and posters to raise money for our school and there is less emphasis on small toys that often end up as land fill

Merit Award 🎖🥇🏅

Congratulations to Darcy who was the Week 2 Merit Award Winner, Nixon our week 3 winner and Flynn who was our Mama CC for week 3! We feel very lucky to have you all in our class 😁 You are all Year Two super Stars! 🌟🤩

Testing 📚

Over the next few weeks we will be under taking some reading and spelling assessment to determine what growth you child has made since the beginning of the term and to inform our teaching practise in the lead up to reports. You child may come home with a reading goal to practice at home on a little slip of paper.

Thanks for your ongoing support,

Mrs. Wendelin
