Welcome to Term 2!
Welcome to Term 2! I hope you all had a lovely holidays relaxing and taking in that last bit of Autumn sunshine. I was lucky enough to become an Aunty this holidays for the second time to my new nephew Davey, celebrate the Dockers winning two in a row and surprising my Mum for her 60th with a long table lunch with a private chef with 22 of her closest friends and family. A wonderful holidays all round!
I am looking forward to a jam packed 11 week term with your children. Just a few reminders for the week ahead..
Prayer Assembly π
We have our prayer assembly on Friday the 30th of April (Week 2). Please keep this free to come and watch your child's first performance for the year. The song we have been learning about in Religion is called Kindness by Juicebox Jukebox. Please find the link below if you would like to practice at home. If your child has a reading, they have been sent home today. It would be greatly appreciated if you could take the time to rehearse this with your child.
Homework - Spellingπ
Spelling lists in your child's homework book will look a little bit different this term. It will consist of four focus sounds and four tricky words. These focus sounds and tricky words are linked with InitiaLit and will also be the sounds we will be focusing on in class for each fortnight. Spelling has changed this term because we are now commencing the InitiaLit 2 program and integrating the information gathers from our Soundwaves Spelling test data (this was shown to you during parent teacher interviews). This fortnight, our focus sounds are ai/ay and ee/ea.
Homework π©π«
Homework will be sent home on Monday which includes the homework grid, fluency reading grid and a spelling list with the four focus sounds and tricky words that we are learning. We love it when you can fill in your child's R.E.D reading folder which helps us track how they are going in their reading. This fortnight, our focus sounds are 'ai & ay, ee & ea' π
Please ensure that you sign your child's homework grid before the due date so we can monitor your child's progress at home.
Wheelie Walkie Waste Free Wednesday π²π΄πΆ♀️
This wonderful initiative begins this Wednesday and will run for the whole term. There is a class challenge and I would love for our class to be the best in the school and see how many students we can get wheeling or walking. If we are the winners, we get to go for a class excursion anywhere in the Busselton region, a great prize indeed! If you are unable to wheel or walk, please make sure your child is coming with as much nude food (no packaging) as possible.
