Welcome to a Swimmingly Sensational Week Six!
Good afternoon parents,
I hope you all had a lovely weekend and got to enjoy some of that lovely Autumn sunshine! I was lucky enough to head down to Eagle bay for a glorious swim on Sunday. How lucky are we to live in this part of the world?!
Just a few messages this week...
Swimming
As you know we have started our swimming lessons. The children have loved being in the pool and listening to the teachers teach them all the fun things like bubble breathing, frog kick and survival backstroke. I can safely say we will have some wonderful swimmers in our class this year! Have a look at some photos below of some of our super swimmers!
Just a quick reminder, if you could PLEASE PACK THONGS in your child's swimming bag to wear. We would be greatly appreciative as it can be difficult getting 40 children onto the bus while having to try and find socks and tie up shoe laces at the pool.
Week Five Star Citizen
Congratulations to Maxwell who was the Star Citizen for Compassion. We are so proud of you Maxwell!
Meals after Wheels
This will be held on Monday 16th of March. Children are encouraged to bring along their roller blades, skateboards or scooters (no bikes) and the appropriate protective gear. Please be aware that if they do not have their helmet, they will not be able to participate in this wonderful initiative.
Voting at OLC
Please come down to OLC this Saturday the 13th between 8.00 am-2.30 pm to support the Year 1 and 6 cake stall fundraiser and vote for your local Member of Parliament.
Homework
A new homework grid has been glued into your child's homework book. Everyone gets 10 out of 10 for getting ALL the homework books to school on Friday!
Our Learning
We have loved learning about addition these past few weeks, in particular missing addends. The children have loved being number detectives and finding the missing number. Have a look at some of the pictures of these Math super stars below!
A way we have been teaching the children to find the missing addend is to count up to the target number. Have a look at the video below which shows the strategy that we are learning at school (please excuse the shaky video and English accent!).
I hope you have a lovely night and I will see you bright and early tomorrow!
Mrs. Wendelin
