Week 8...Feeling G8!
Good evening parents,
We hope you had a lovely weekend and got to enjoy some of that glorious sunshine 😎 Mine was spent soaking up the sun at Castle Rock and Quindalup. We are so lucky to live here!
Just a few reminders for the week ahead...
Parent Teacher Interviews
Parent teacher interviews commence this week. Thank you to those of you that have already made a booking...if you're having any dramas, please let me know. It seems to work on a laptop but not so well on a phone or tablet.
This meeting is designed to give you a brief overview of how your child is progressing with a focus on literacy and numeracy. We will also discuss your child's work habits and just generally how they are travelling. I am very excited to tell you about all the learning we have packed into seven weeks!
As we are on time constaints, each meeting will run for 15 minutes. We have been asked to keep a timer handy to ensure the time of each meeting is fair and equitable with each parent. Please excuse me using a timer when we begin our interview as it is more for myself to make sure I keep on track. In each of the meetings, there is alot of information that we would love to share with you, so if we do run over time, I will unfortunatley have to stop the meeting and arrange another time to continue it with you. If you have any questions or concerns after the meeting, please feel free to shoot me an email.
PAT Testing
Over the last few weeks, we have been busy completing PAT testing on the iPads. A PAT test measures your child's knowledge, skills and understanding in both reading and maths and helps pinpoint where they are in their learning journey and what areas they need more support in. The children were tested on the Year One test to see what concepts may need review and to help us with our planning for the year ahead.
It also provides us with a growth point that the children should reach to be considered 'at standard'. You will see this number on your parent interview sheet and we will explain where your child is sitting during the meeting.
Homework
A new homework grid has been glued into your child's homework book and will be sent home tomorrow. If your child was absent or forgot their homework folder last Friday, please send it in tomorrow so we can glue the new homework grid in. This homework will be due Week 9 Wednesday 31st of March.
On Friday the 26th of March, all children are invited to bring their favourite bear to school for the day in exchange for a gold coin donation to the missions! The bear must be able to fit inside their school bag (Please no life-sized bears!!). The bears will be allowed in class with them for the day and invited to picnic with them at lunch! This is our Project Compassion Fundraiser for the Term that was initiated by the Year 6 Catholic Ministry group.
Visit from our buddies
We were so lucky to have a visit from our buddies Imogen and Flynn who came to read us their leprechaun character descriptions. The Year Two children were in awe of their writing and we are looking forward returning the favour and showing them some of our writing!
Assembly
Assemblies will resume back to the normal time of 2:15pm Friday afternoons. We are looking forward to the PP Harmony Day assembly this week.
Turpin Family
As you are all aware, the Turpin's have had to relocate to Perth, so Miss McFarlane thought it would be a fabulous idea to create Finn a book telling him how much we miss him and what we cant wait to do with him, when they return to OLC. Please continue to keep the Turpin family in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you for your ongoing support,
Mrs. Wendelin
