Week Five sunshine ☀😎
I hope you have had a wonderful week in (some) sunshine and you are looking forward to a relaxing weekend. Can you believe that we are already halfway through the term?! How time flies when you are having fun! Just a few messages from this week...
Welcome Levi 🎉🥳
A very big warm OLC welcome to Levi (and his parents Serena and Andrew) who has joined our class this week. Levi has been an absolute super star and we feel like he has been here all year! We are so lucky to have you Levi and welcome to the Year 2W team!
SEESAW
This is a form of formal reporting that we are implementing over this semester to give you insight to your child's achievement more regularly rather than only the formal report that you will receive at the end of the year. We now have nearly all families sign up and access their child's journal.
Don't forget you can have both parents access your child's Seesaw account and that you can access directly with the Seesaw Family app on your phone, device or computer. We would love it if you can leave a comment on your child's work, as they can access the app at school and they love seeing your feedback!
Please let me know if you need assistance or would like to be emailed the direct link if there is any problems accessing your child's learning journal using the QR code.
Mia Mia Build with Koomal Dreaming
We were so lucky to have Josh Whiteland come into our school and tell us some information about Mia Mia which which a traditional Noongar shelter. We learnt that Mia Mia's have to be facing north east and their fire must be 1.5m from the back of the hut, so the wind blows the smoke away and draws the heat into the Mia Mia. The huts structure is made from peppermint tree branches as they are flexible and paperbark is used to enclose and create a cover for the Mia Mia. The children loved getting outdoor and being among nature (right on our school grounds) and they worked in teams to create their own miniature version of a Mia Mia. Check out some of the happy snaps below!
Open night
Next Wednesday (25th of August) will be our open night and this is an opportunity for those who aren't regularly able to, to come into the classroom and get a glimpse of some of the great things we have been up to. We will have your child's writing books, Term Three scrapbooks (all other learning areas combined) and art examples out from their trays on their desks to see and chat about with your child. You will notice on your child's desk, there will be a slip that you put on your favourite piece of work that your child has produced. please use this slip as an opportunity to give some positive feedback to your child and let them know how proud you are (because we are bursting with pride in Year Two!).
Star Citizen Award and MJR winners
Congratulations to Harrison who receives our STAR CITIZEN merit award today for his consistent display of our school's focus value of RESPECT. He always shows his peers, teachers and environment respect with thoughtfulness and care.
We also had two of our Year 2W super stars recieve a brand new Cape Crusader for Leeuwin and Meelup. We are so proud of you Maxwell and Levi!
