Week 9 feeling fine π
Good afternoon parents,
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed the glorious sunshine that we had. It was definitely nice to see some sun after the rain we have had all week.
Just a few messages for the week ahead...
Year 2 Mass
Last Wednesday, we were fortunate enough that the rain held off and we were able to walk to Our Lady of the Southern Cross Church, where Father Francis hosted a beautiful morning mass. Throughout the mass, Father Francis explained how making the sign of the cross at the beginning of Mass is like saying hello to Jesus. He also explained each part of the Mass and at the end opened it up to the children to ask questions about the Mass and Church. The children were very reverent and respectful and one of the parishioners even commented on this.
Cross Country π♀️π♂️
Just a reminder that Cross Country is taking place this Thursday 17th of June. Students are to wear their faction shirt and are encouraged to wear zinc and bring teddies. We will make our way down to the oval at 9 am for a 9:15am start, however we are the third year group running the cross country as it will begin with Year 3's, then Year 1's and then Year 2's.
Providing the weather stays good, we will stay out to watch the other competitors. Parents are most welcome to join us to watch, please note that the bottom gravel car park is unavailable.
Wheels After Meals π²
Students are invited to bring their skateboards and scooters to school for a roll around after lunch on Tuesday 15th of June. Please make sure they area also bringing appropriate safety equipment. All items are to be placed near Mr Lee's office.
Items for Art π¨π¨π¨
We need your help! In Art, we have begun studying George Rodrigue and how he is famous for painting Blue Dogs. We have looked at how to create a shade and a tint using only blue, black and white paint. On Tuesday, we will begin painting our Blue dogs and we want the children to be like a real artist and be able to have their own art pallet and experiment with creating their own shades and tints. To do this, we would love if you could bring in any old ice-cream container lids.

Year 6 Buddies ππΌππΌππΌ
On Friday 11th June, we were lucky enough to have a visit from the wonderful Year 6's in Mrs Ricciardone class. The Year 6's taught the children how to play some different card games in preparation for making their own card games in the coming weeks. The Year 2 students loved learning new games or playing games they were familiar with (Uno Flip was a favourite) and cant wait to see the new games the Year 6's create.
Character Strength
Dear Parents, currently at OLC we are focusing on modeling and observing different character strengths. This week we are looking for people who demonstrate Fairness. Can you encourage your child to show the following?
Thanks for your ongoing support,
Mrs. Wendelin
